For those of you thinking about getting a weight loss surgery and you are not sure which procedure might be right for you, take our quiz to see if the Lap-Band Procedure is a perfect fit.

1. Do you have a Body Mass Index of at least 40?

2. Have you tried multiple weight loss attempts and have failed or only had short term results?

1. Answer: Yes- The Lap-Band procedure requires a BMI of at least 40 or more or are at least 30 pounds overweight with a BMI of at least 30 with one or more obesity related condition

2. Answer: Yes- Doctors will only consider a serious Lap-Band candidate if they have really tried to lose weight with alternative methods and have failed or lost only a little.

3. Answer: Yes. Doctors will only do a Lap-Band procedure on an adult.

4. Answer: No. Alcohol can create issues for the Lap-Band procedures and doctors will have to seriously examine if you are even health or fit enough for a successful surgery. 

5. Answer: No. Being pregnant, doctors will not allow you to continue with the procedure. Those that get pregnant after the surgery may need to get a deflation of their bands.

6. Answer: No. Having any inflammatory or condition of the stomach, such as ulcers, Crohn’s disease, or severe esophagitis, will lead to termination of the procedure.

7. Answer: Yes. Those that are ready to commit to a healthy and active lifestyle are the best possible candidates for the surgery. It is very difficult to just drop everything and start a new lifestyle.
